Client 1: Architectural and engineering firm

The client needed a trusted advisor to help with a complicated license migration. Tarim worked with the Oracle Sales team on the migration and pricing proposals. The client was able to obtain a 94% discount on list license fees, a $17 million savings, while saving close to $1 million in net license fees. The CTO’s feedback was that Tarim “did a super job”, while Oracle was able to close the sale in time for the quarter end, resulting in a win-win for the client and Oracle.

Client 2: Fortune 1000 consumer beverages company

The client had been issued a compliance report for $16 million in compliance findings. After examining the report and conducting an independent audit, Tarim discovered a mistake that had resulted in higher license requirements. Equipped with this information, the client successfully worked with Oracle License Management Services (LMS) to reduce the compliance findings, saving over $1.7 million in list license fees and securing a more favorable proposal. Tarim’s engagement facilitated a closer working relationship between the client and Oracle LMS.

Client 3: Fortune 1000 clothing retailer

The client had made several attempts over three years to reduce their annual support bill for Oracle software that was no longer used. After working closely with the client, Oracle Sales senior management, and Oracle Support, Tarim secured approval from Oracle headquarters to reduce the client’s annual support costs by $1 million per year and obtain a credit for the same amount that could be immediately applied towards a net new multimillion dollar license purchase. The client obtained the annual support savings and received a credit for their purchase, and the relationship with Oracle was improved and enhanced.

Client 4: Electronics manufacturing services company

The client had received compliance findings of $1.3 million despite the small size of their environment (three databases). Tarim examined how the environment had been evaluated according to Oracle standard business practices. After working with Oracle Sales, the compliance issue was resolved for $1,100. The client saved $1.29 million in license and support fees and the relationship between the client and Oracle was strengthened.

After ten years of continuous investment in Oracle, the client did not fully understand whether they were in compliance with Oracle and if the return on their Oracle investment had been fully optimized. Tarim was brought in to conduct a Health Check using the same methodology used by Oracle. After a thorough and independent investigation, Tarim worked with the senior management team to rectify the compliance risks that had been identified and reduce Oracle costs both in licensing and support.

Client 6: Information management company

  • Type of engagement: 2 Oracle audits (Oracle internal usage environment and prop hosting environment)

The client specialized in providing a custom application built on Oracle database. Tarim was brought in as an independent consultant in the midst of two audits initiated by LMS: one focused on the client’s internal usage environment, and the other on their prop hosting environment. Throughout the audit process, Tarim equipped, enabled, and educated the client. As a result, the client stayed in control of their Oracle assets and maximized the return on their Oracle investment.
